Bengali Soul-Neighbor Ghost

I believe that some people definitely have access to the world around us which is unknown. When they say, it’s true none of us believes. Rather calling them the ghosts I will call as Souls which are left back in our world. These souls always try to say something to the people who cannot see them, very interesting thing is they keep on saying till you listen….!!! One such story is here…

A newly married couple, Ashok and  Akshaya from a different state in India takes a house in west Bengal. The very first day they identify that the house is not built across Vaasthu Shastra. They perform gruhaprawesh puja on the first day in house and started their life very happily. To identify the odds in a new place it will take time for any one, in the same way they were not able to identify the odds happening around them so easily on first day.

A week later for the first time, they started thinking what has happened.

Day 1: They performed puja for Gruhaprawesh and next day saw that all the items of pooja are not in place. They were just thrown from their original place. They have drawn an conclusion that it might be due to the rats in old house.

Day 2: Akshaya is in kitchen, and cooking. She just goes to other room after keeping the gas stove in sim, when she returns it is in high and the food is heated to worse. She thinks it was her mistake.

Day 3: Akshaya waves her Ashok from their balcony when he is going to office. Suddenly Ashok observes one more shadow waving him for a moment. He thinks it was his imagination as he didn’t see it again.

Day 4: Only Ashok listens to some moaning all the night, he was not able to sleep properly. There was some sort of disturbance at home which he didn’t recognize. He thinks it’s due to pressure at work.

Day 5: Akshaya feels like some one is coming near her and whispering. She felt afraid and Ashok reaches home late. As he is already stressed due to no sleep and work, there were some differences between them. Both of them were not able to sleep properly entire night. Think that it is due to the dispute among them.

Day 6: Morning they woke up with fresh faces and convince each other. They were happy again. It was for entire day, Ashok stays at home for his Akshaya. They went out for lunch and came back late in night. There was no power at that time, they came in the house. There were no candles. Went downstairs to his friend’s house and got one. They lighted it and just before them was a shadow which blows the light off. Both of them gets stunned for a while and lights it again. Nothing is on their way. They moved in and after sometime power came back. Late in the night, Ashok woke up and walked towards the wash room when he was hardly hit by a shadow. He realizes that something is there which has hit him. Wakes up his Akshaya and tells her what has happened. Both of them sat watching what is happening at their house all night.

Day 7: They started to recollect what else has happened to them all these 7 days. Each one of them shared their experiences with the other for first time. They concluded something is definitely wrong. When Ashok says,” Yes, I know this before. Someone has told me about this old house”.

He remembers and tells his Akshaya that when he is in search of the house nearby to his office. An agent says that there are two houses side by side in an apartment. I can help you in getting one. Agent asks to call the owners, when the Ashok called to the first owner. He responded angrily saying that he will never give that house for rent and kept the call down. Hesitatingly he calls the other owner, when he responds happily and says,” You can occupy tomorrow. House was closed from long time you can clean up.” When Enquired he came to know that both these houses are closed from years, yet he decides to take one as it is nearby to office.

Akshaya says it was a wrong decision to take such house. He decided to send her home for a while till he searches a new house. She goes her home and he brings in his friend to stay with him. All the night they discussed about what has happened.

It’s hard to believe when someone says about the experience on ghosts but everyone listens very carefully. The friend who listened all about the story makes fun of Ashok saying “then what else your Bengali Uncle says..!!”, Ashok becomes angry on him when he decides to see with his eyes, what’s true. Comes very early from office and waits for the reality. Starts working on his laptop and suddenly he realizes that his friend is late. He moves to the balcony lights up his cigar and turns around to get in. When the smoke just shows him what’s behind him. He gets shocked and becomes speechless, calls his friend and asks to come fast. He walks out of the house till then. Once they met each other started how to deal this situation. All the night they didn’t go inside the house.

Both of them just tried to know what it really wants. They too started trying to talk with it. They made an experiment of listening carefully when there is some disturbance beside them. They succeeded in identifying that it was not wishing to harm them but is surely trying to convey some message. Both of them read many books about how to conclude its conveyed message. One day they decided to play coin game as it’s not so risky. They have drawn a board as per the rules and started inviting the soul.

Very soon they found the response, coin started moving. They identified and started questioning:

Question1: Are you here?
Answer: Yes
Both the friends started to be nervous and sweat.

Question2: What is your name?
Answer: BENGALI Uncle.
Ashok’s friend is shocked now as it is the word used by him for fun to tease his friend.

Question3: Why were you here?
Answer: I need a favor.

Question4: What do you want to say us? Why are you frightening us in our house?
Answer: I’m your neighbor.

Question5: We didn’t understand what you wanted to say?
Answer: I’m here because I am your neighbor.

Question6: Tell us your story. What is that you wanted to tell us?
Answer: …………….

Question7: Are you here?
Answer: ……………

Friend says: Ashok, I think he left. Why did he go?
Ashok says whatever may be the reason we should stop playing this game also. That day both of them were discussing to find a new way to talk with him. Suddenly they decided to play the same again at midnight. They started playing:

Question1: Are you here?
Answer: YES

Question2: why did you leave?
Answer: I didn’t leave.

Question3: why didn’t you answer us then?
Answer: I don’t want you to put in trouble

Both the friends started thinking what is it’s real problem. Ashok says, we will at least share your problem. You can tell us your story.
Ghost replied lately saying its story
I’m the owner of your neighboring house. Murdered and left behind in that locked house.

Ashok and his friend got shocked. Ashok says I spoke to my neighboring owner before I took this house for rent. This is not possible.

Answer: Ghost says he is the one who killed me.
Ashok says, I identified some change in his voice and its fear for sure when I asked house for rent.
Ghost says its story :- I am a government employee, with all the money I earned tried to buy an house but money with me is never sufficient. One day, one of my colleagues came up with a plan. He said we will together invest and buy a single flat. Gave me a chance to live in the new flat and just asked me to pay some half amount of rent as long as I live there. I agreed with the deal as my dream can be fulfilled. I wanted to make a surprise for my family, so didn’t tell them.
The day of registration came. I took my money and went to my colleague’s house. Both husband and wife are arguing with each other on why flat is getting registered on my name. They decided to stop the purchasing of flat. When I said, please register it on your name only. Just give me a deal note saying I have invested this much amount on flat and allow me to stay there. I thought at least I can live happily for life time. Flat is registered.
Very happily, I went to flat for the first time. When suddenly I was hit strongly on my head. Turned around I saw my colleague and his wife. Both killed me took the note from me and burned it. My dream of living in new house ended with my death in that dreamt house. That night they tried to move my body from there when they saw someone moving at the ground stairs, dropped that idea. Later many times they tried and failed to move my body. Today also they came when we are talking and I went there to protect my body in between our discussion.

Ashok and his friend is surprised now. They don’t know though they were in neighbor house.

Ghost says that very soon they will remove his body from there and will enjoy his house. It asks them to help its family and make justice. It explains that its family was facing many financial problems.

Ashok and his friend Prakash ended up the game and started thinking what needs to be done. They never knew when it became morning.

To their surprise next morning his Akshaya and her mother came along from hometown. They didn’t wish to say all has happened at first. But slowly informed them everything. Ashok mother in law says not to involve in such cases in a new place and tells to look for a new house. That day she takes all of them to Maa Kaali temple and does pooja. She explains the problem to priest there and asks for powerful KAALI YANTRA. Keeps it at the bedroom door and left to their hometown. Ashok with lots of thoughts on his mind sleeps on bed. When at midnight he listens to some one moaning at his door. He him self finds his body very warm and feels really something is going wrong.

He goes out of the bedroom when suddenly a cool wave touches him and says my body is being moved. Help me. Ashok immediately calls his friend prakash, tells him to bring as many people as he can. Comes out of the house and sees that the neighboring door is opened.

He moves inside the house in dark with a candle light though his wife is stopping him. He watched the corpse of the Ghost on bedroom but didn’t find the criminals. Thinking that his presence made them to hide he searches all rooms and reaches the balcony when suddenly they pull him to push out of balcony. He fights them and in mean while received the timely help from his friend Prakash. They catches them and puts before police. Policemen called the ghosts family to identify. All the night Bengali uncle’s family is crying at the other house. When Ashok is sitting in house, with wife on one side and Uncle on another side thanking him.

Uncle leaves the world happily thereafter.

Story of ChandraVarna-Father of King Vikramaditya

In India there are many legends which brief the heroism of our kings and other brave people. Among them is one our King ChandraGupta who is well known as Vikramaditya. He is so called from his kings and emperors because of his strength and abilities in ruling his kingdom with justice all the time. Basing on his capabilities there are more known stories with morals along. He is well known with his brother Bhatti and is called as Bhatti- Vikramaarka.

Long Long back so Long back there was a village named Nandipuram and there lived a Brahmin, ChandraVarna who is a pandit by learning all Sastra’s and literature. He was not satisfied with the knowledge he possess and was enthusiastic to learn all which are available. Hence he decided to be as Brahmachari(Unmarried) till he becomes the one who has learned all the knowledge available. Deciding so he starts his search for such a Guru(teacher) across the states. Finding no one who satisfies his will he continues his journey from a forest. He becomes much exhausted from his journey, feels hungry and thirsty. He goes in search of water and finds a lake, drank it and takes rest below a tree.

A Very powerful demon which is living on that tree watches Chandravarna. This demon is so powerful that there is nothing away from its knowledge. It is doing sacrifice or offers to Lord Brahma from that tree for its MOKSHA. Such demon wakes up the Brahmin and asks why he was there. Chandra Varna explains his wish to the demon and his journey in search of the Guru. He also grasps that the demon is capable of giving the knowledge which is unknown to him and hence requests him to accept as his disciple.

Delighted demon accepts him as the disciple and says, “ I shall teach you all that are known to me. Don’t waste any of my time and learn with concentration. You can learn in time.” Chandravarna Says, “ Dear Guru, I will accept every difficulty to learn your teachings happily.”

Demon guru says that it will be sitting on the tree, will write his teachings on the leaves of tree and drop them for six months. Chandravarna  shall read all of them to gain complete knowledge all the six months, day and night without sleeping, having food, water. Even a day of interruption will make him angry and Chandravarna will fail to learn all the knowledge.

Chandravarna accepts the conditions of demon guru. Demon becomes happy because of his strong wish to learn and tells him a spell with which sleep, hunger and thirsty can be overcome. With the help of the spell chandravarna overcomes all the difficulties and gains all the knowledge from demon. Mean while the sacrifice of the demon comes to an end. His curse to take birth as demon goes away and he was enshrined with more power. Looking at the surprised Chandravarna, demon explains about his sacrifice and says that “you have gained all the knowledge in this world now and there is nothing left unknown. You can now go to your native and marry a beautiful woman, have a peaceful and happy life”. Saying so demon gets vanished to Brahma Lok.

Chandravarna starts from there to make his way home. Due to not having food and sleep from last six months he was very weak .He decides to go to any nearby village for having them. He reaches a beautiful house, and thinks that it belongs to a Brahmin. Expecting that he could have sufficient food and rest there, he approaches the house. But, no one is present at the house in that time and hence he rests at the front of the house with the leaves written by demon below his head.

That house belongs to a Devadashi, Alankaravalli who is very rich. She is good at dance and music. Late in the night she reaches her house from the temple and observes Chandravarna infront of her house. Chandravarna was unconscious even when she tried to wake him up. She observes the worse condition of chandravarna as he didn’t had food, bath anything from last six months. Though he was full of dirt in clothing she makes a note that he is bright with his knowledge and comes to a conclusion that he must be from a very good family.

She brings in a doctor for his treatment and helps him in making his health good. She works hard to bring him back to health and after many days he becomes conscious. He observes that the house belongs to a Temple dancer who is Veshya and decides to leave. Alankaravalli watches him recovering back from health and feels happy also she feels sad as he is leaving without even intimating her. She says“ O Dear Brahmin..!! How this is a way of thanking me? When you are leaving without intimation after my help, I cannot be without you and want you to marry me”. Chandravarna in response to her request says that “ she is like his mother as saved his life”. In this way they argument for long time and this case was brought before the king.

When the king asks the reason for heir dispute it is explained as followed by Chandravarna, “O King..!! I am Brahmin and is a scholar. I am on the way to my house and became sick. This Alankaravalli has helped me by saving life. Now she wanted me to marry her. How can I marry a Devadashi being a Brahmin, will the world accept it and how is that going as per our Dharmas?.

Then Alankaravalli explains herself to the King saying, “ King..!! everything said by Chandravarna is true. Though I belong to a veshya community everyone in the village knows the good attitude of me. I have loved this Brahmin and could not live without him. Kindly do the justice and I can live only basing on your justice”

King says the Brahmin that a women cannot be treated with injustice in his kingdom and for not over ruling the Dharma’s he suggests to marry all the Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vysya and Sudra women along. King who is already very well impressed by the Brahmin’s glow of knowledge and handsomeness decided in mind that he shall become the husband of her daughter. He also suggest the Asthana Pandit’s daughter , Vysya Somasekhara’s daughter. And as already Sudra women Alankaravalli and Kshatriya women daughter of king are ready to marry him. Marriage is done with all the four of them. Alankaravalli felt very happy of her marriage with the Brahmin Chandravarna.

They have all spent their time happily for years. Brahmin’s daughter gave birth to Pallavudu, Kings daughter gave birth to Vikramadithya , Vysya’s daughter gave birth to Bhatti, and Alankaravalli gave birth to Bharthruhari. They have learnt Vedas and have learnt all skills. Meanwhile the king who has no sons make Chandravarna as king and he has been ruling the kingdom in success. He makes all his sons to learn everything he knows.

When he is ready to handover the kingdom to his sons, he makes a call to all of them and says that “Alanakaravalli is the reason for marrying all their mothers and hence she is his first wife. Her son only have the right to become king, all of you have to support them in ruling the kingdom with justice”. All the sons accept it and the King Chandravarna rests in peace. Barthruhari and Pallava moves away for tapasya after ruling the kingdom for a while, making Vikramaditya as king our hero of these stories. Bhatti, his Brother is the wise person who becomes his minister. Both of them with their intelligence and courage had conquered many strong kingdoms. Their kingdom has spread till the Himalayas. Then they shifted their capital to Ujjain. There is a tale followed in next article which says how Vikramaditya and Bhatti ruled their kingdom for 2000 years with the gifted throne of 32 Salabhanjika’s.

BeHind The Temple RockS- On Tour 1

To cover the entire temples of India, I have chosen a new path today. I will cover them in trips wise—Of course the very important temples are always presented in separate.

I have started my journey from Bangalore to Sri KalaHasthi  à Tirupathy à Kailashnath kona àNagalapuram-- Veda Narayana Swamy Temple àSurutapalli—Pallikondeswara swamyà Chennai

I have specified all the significance of temples SriKalaHasthi and Tirupathy with my special images at below links:

Sri KalaHasthi:  http://www.amazingbharat.com/2014/03/sri-kalahasthi-vayu-linga-of-lord-shiva.html

Tirupathy: http://www.amazingbharat.com/2013/06/tirupati-shri-venkateswaraswamy.html

Kailashnatha Kona or Shiva Kona:

We started from Tirupathy to Chennai, where on the way we first came across Kailasha Kona popularly known as Kailashnath Kona.

This is a wonderful place where you can see the water falls and many visitors. It is located in the valley of Nagiri hills near Puttoor. First we will come across the sacred ant hill with Lord Subramanya Swamy temple. Few steps ahead is the main temple with waterfalls.

The water here is rich in minerals and possess curing property. Puranas reveal that Lord Kailasanatheswara Swamy( An Incarnation of Lord Shiva) attended the marriage of Lord Venkateswara Swamy and Goddess Padmavathi at Narayanavanam and selected this waterfall for meditation for sometime. The entire place is entirely surrounded with trees and full of monkeys. It is an natural spot to be explored.

People come in large number during the Maha Shivaratri and Kartheeka Maasam, bathes in the holy medicated water and offers prayer to Lord Shiva.

Here Goddess Parvathi deity is also there. Devotees are blessed with good health.

Veda Narayana Swamy at Nagalapuram:

A very ancient temple on our next stage of journey is Shri Veda Narayana Swamy at Nagalapuram of Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. The significance of temple has a relation with Matsya Avtar, the very first Incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Shri Maha Vishnu in his Incarnation Matsya Avatar, killed demon Somakudu here and retrieved Vedas. He hands over the Vedas to Lord Brahma here in this sacred place. This town is once known as HariKantapuram.

Deity is the Matsyavatar of shri Maha Vishnu which is Swayambhu along with Sridevi and Bhudevi on either side. A peculiar feature of the idol is that it holds the Sudarshana Chakra in ready for release state.

Story of the temple is, According to Hindu Mythology --One Kalpa equals 4,320 Million years and it is one single day for the Universal Creator Lord Brahma, and once he goes to sleep or meditation he sleeps for one Kalpa.Though Lord is in a stage of deep meditation or sleep – all the 4 vedas are spelled by the four faces of Lord Brahma. A demon who has observed all this importance of Vedas think that he also can become an creator like Brahma on having the Vedas. The Vedas created were stolen by the demon – Rakshasa named Somakasur during this time frame and he hides in the deep oceans.

Knowing this Lord Brahma, thinks that it is not possible to continue his creation without Vedas and hence approaches Shri Maha Vishnu, asks him to rescue the Vedas.

Lord Vishnu then Incarnates in his Matsya Avatar, the very first Incarnation of Dashavatar.  For years he fought with the demon inside the deep ocean and succeeds in killing him. He collects the Vedas in form of kids at his stomach and Later Vedas were handed over to Lord Brahma in this sacred place.

Another very important significance of the temple is during the Incarnation of Matsyavatar, Lord fought with demon for years in sea and hence to give warmth to his body Lord SuryaBhagavan makes his sun rays to fell on him. This day is celebrated in temple as the day of surya pujotsawam. Significance is sun rays fall directly on the deity which is 630 foot distant inside the temple. On the first day sun rays fall on the feet of deity, second day on the stomach and third day on the head by making the deity more powerful. To view it many people across the world come here.

This temple was re constructed by King Shri Krishna Devaraaya—the history on the Sashanam of temple says that when the king is returning back after establishing his victory statue in Pottunur and was on his way to a Utsav in kumbakonam, he comes across the sacred city of Harikantapuram temple which is constructed by Pallavas. He then reconstructs the temple and renames the town as nagalapuram in the name of his mother Nagamamba.

Other temples within the premises are:

  1. Sri Vedavalli  Tayaru
  2. Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy
  3. Sri Veeranjaneya swamy
  4. Sri Bhakta Anjaneya swamy
  5. Sri Rama with sita Lakshmana deity.

Pallikondeswara swamy with Sri sarvamangala—surutapalli

In our next stage of Journey we reached Surutapalli  -- another very famous temple built around 800 years ago. It is in chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. It is a unique shiva temple as the deity resembles us like Vishnu’s Ananthasayana pose. Lord Shiva is seen reclining on the lap of goddess parvathi. We can see Kamadhenu and Kalpa Vruksha on either sides of the deity. Inside the temple, the foot steps of Lava Kusa can be found.Another deity of DakshinaMurthy is found here and is considered to be most powerful. Goddess Parvathi is called Marhathambhikai, has to be visited first once we are in temple and is very beautiful along the side of Valmikiswarar Svyambhu Lingam( Valmiki).  The garbha gruha is guarded by Kubhera ( God of wealth) with his consorts Sanganidhi on left and  Padumanidhi on right.Kanchipuram Sankara Paramacharya found this place as the sacred ones as it is traced with Ramayana Period findings.

This temple was built by the Hari hara Bukkaraya Depicts and this is the only temple in world where we can find Lord Shiva in the sayanam. We can also see other deity’s of Varasidhi Vinayaka, Venugopala Swamy, kashi viswanath with visalakshi on inner premises of temple. Ramalingeswara and Valmikeshwara deity’s sit facing each other. It is said that Valmiki has performed penance before writing Ramayana here. The Lingam is in Triangular shape and there is large Nandi outside the temple.

SthalaPuran:

As we all had a note of how and why Sagaramathanam has happened in my previous writings at:

http://www.amazingbharat.com/2014/03/lord-vishnu-and-his-incarnations-with.html

When the Milk Ocean is being Churned many came out among them is one toxic poison HALAHAL which was swallowed by Lord Shiva on request of entire worlds. The potential of poison is so strong that it turned Lord’s neck to Blue in color and hence he is named as Neelakantha also. Goddess Parvathi immediately puts her hand and stops the poison from entering his body. Lord Shiva becomes dizzy and lay down with his head on Parvathi’s lap and the whole world went dark. As soon as the effect of the Kalakutta poison is diminished Lord becomes normal. Devas and Asuras wish to have his darshan and when Nandi refused permission to visit him. The sacred Bull asks them to pray waiting until Lord Shiva and Parvathi were out. With the Prayers of them lord gave them darshan with Ananda Tandavam on the top of forehead of Rishaba Vahana. This period is known as Pradosha Kalam. This temple is the origin of Pradosha kalam. This is celebrated on every fortnight. It is believed that who ever performs it will attain Shanthi( Peace) and will be comforted from obstacles of life. Even Lava and Kusha , who unknowingly fought their father Lord Rama came here along with valmiki and worshipped Lord Shiva to get rid off their sin.
